A lovely Spring wedding at Hyatt Regency Long Beach
In the Spring, Arti and Anand became husband and wife. They chose to have their wedding at the Hyatt located in Long Beach, California. This wedding was extra special to us because the bride’s father is someone that we have worked with for years and respect, Pundit Mahesh Bhatt. When he called for his daughter’s wedding, we were thrilled to have a chance to cover this very important day for them. The ceremony began with Anand arriving on a white horse for his baraat. They held a traditional Gujarati Hindu ceremony outside under a white and turquoise draped mandap. The reception followed in the evening in the main ballroom.
How did you meet?
We met through family friends. My parents told me about Anand and his parents told him about me. We were both very hesitant at first to meet with someone our parents introduced us to, but I thought well lets just see what happens. He messaged me to meet up for coffee. We clicked right away and what was supposed to be a quick coffee date around 8:00 pm turned into us not leaving until 1:00 am! We got married 2 years later! So sometimes taking your parents advice is actually a good thing!
How long did you plan the wedding after the proposal?
We got married about 1 year after the proposal. Actual full on planning started about 2-3 months after the proposal.
The top 3 challenges/difficulties of planning the wedding.
1. How to cut down the number of guests!
2. How to budget your money and know when your going overboard.
3. Figuring out which vendors are good at what they do and also within your budget.
The top 3 most fun/easiest parts of planning the wedding.
1. The decor was very stressful, but a lot of fun to see it all come together at the end.
2. Seeing the family excited to get together and start planning. I have a big family, so everyone was willing to take on some sort of responsibility.
3. Food tasting/ Cake tasting was always a fun part!
What fun/unique feature of your wedding made you the proudest?
I really liked our light pattern on the walls in the reception hall. A lot of my center pieces were nature themed so branches and manzanita trees, so I knew I wanted the branch pattern on the two side walls. It was a teal color and really made the room look extra special. It was also nice because when you walked in that is what caught your eye, so you could spend a little less money on making the center pieces very large and extravagant.
If you had it to do over, what would you change, add or do differently?
During the day of the wedding/reception, make sure you take some time to be alone with your husband/wife to enjoy the moment and take it all in. It really does go by in a blink of an eye.
